Natural Dyes – An Introduction

Come along and learn a new skill within the inspiring backdrop of
Our Back Garden. Let’s get creative and learn how to use and make
Natural Dyes.

Natural dyeing is a process of dyeing fibres and fabrics which goes
back centuries. Learn the basic techniques of collecting vegetation,
preparing and making your own natural dyes. Tuition will also be
given on the mordanting process and how to create a dye bath. The
workshop will also cover simple shibori techniques and obtaining
texture and patterns within your work.

You will leave this workshop with your own samples that can be used
in future creative projects or just sew them all together to make your
own sample fabric display.

This workshop will last 2 ½ hours and is an excellent way of starting
your journey of exploring the many creative aspects of natural dyeing.

Your Teachers 

Debbie creates Art in many forms through Glass, Textiles and Mixed Media. She shares her skills to individuals and larger groups who enjoy similar passions.

Sarah is a fully qualified Textiles Teacher who has a degree in Fashion and Textiles. Sarah is a keen sewer, who enjoys dressmaking and creating print designs. Alongside teaching she also runs an online fabric shop with Debbie.

This workshop will cost £60 per person.

Please arrive by 9:45am to ensure the workshop can start promptly
at 10am.

All materials and equipment will be provided alongside tea, coffee
