Mill Meadows Farm has transformed our family, starting with just a few fields and growing into a successful rare breed farm. We are a family of mixed British-Nigerian heritage, spanning two generations of directors, we have spent over two decades nestling ourselves into our local community and feel incredibly proud to be creating a space we can share with you all. We understand that, like any garden, our farm requires hard work and a lot of heart. We’re excited to share our journey with you, showing how our commitment to family and environment creates something truly special.
The animals
Our farm is home to a diverse array of animals, including an alpaca herd, Sussex red cows, and a flock of Hampshire Down sheep. Our daily routine involves caring for our land and livestock, and we’ve developed some exciting experiences to share with our community and customers.
Our alpaca herd has grown from just two mothers and their cria to twenty three beautiful Huyaca alpacas. Initially brought in to protect our lambs from foxes, our alpacas have become a cornerstone of our farm. Alpaca wool, known for its softness, durability, and hypoallergenic properties, is a rising star in the luxury wool market. As noted in a 2018 Vogue article, alpaca wool is more environmentally friendly than cashmere, making it a preferred choice among retailers and consumers.
We’ve worked tirelessly to produce top-quality yarn for our luxury products, perfect for staying warm in the winter while looking stylish. It’s thrilling to see our efforts recognized in the industry, and we’re proud to offer these beautiful, sustainable products.
The Farm
Established in 2010, Mill Meadows Farm is a picturesque piece of farmland in Westbourne, featuring water meadows intertwined with the River Ems. This historic river, with a history dating back to 1640, flows through our farm, supporting diverse wildlife including brown trout, water voles, and kingfishers.
Over the years, we’ve restored 24 acres of land to viable agricultural practices that complement both the environment and the management of the River Ems. Our farm is now home to a pedigree rare-breed herd of Sussex Red cattle, a flock of Hampshire Down sheep, and a beloved herd of alpacas. Our partnership with national and local environmental programmes helps improve habitats for water birds and biodiversity in these floodplain grazing meadows.

Our goal is to ensure the long-term conservation of the Ems Valley, linking the South Downs and Chichester Harbour—both areas of outstanding beauty and national heritage. As a family, we’re committed to nurturing this land, sharing our passion for sustainable farming, and inviting you to be a part of our story.
