Hello Friends,

One more sleep until our Spring in Our Back Garden event awakens

Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th April, 11am-4pm (last entry 3pm)

When you arrive, please head to our visitor and café area to check in before heading off into the farm.

What to expect…..

Our Hampshire Down lambs are here!!, and our polytunnel area is all set to welcome you all. You will have an opportunity to meet the Ewes and their offspring, learn more about animal husbandry here on the farm and our team will be there to help those of you who want to get up close and personal with a woolly cuddle!

Our lamb sessions will run every hour so depending on when you arrive you can jump on the session about to start or explore the rest of our Back Garden and get on the next. When you check in you can sign up to what session you want to get into.

Nature activities in our rewilding meadow

Once you’ve met the lambs you are free to explore the wider farm. A number of activities will be set up around the meadow ~ try your hand at making a wildflower seed bomb or an Alder cone bee / natural crown, or for the more curious come learn about our resident Barn owls! Follow our nature trail and discover more about some of the animals and plants that live here on the farm.

Spring is trying to be here, we welcome you to bring a picnic and make the most of your time with us. The Alpaca Cafe will be open, serving hot drinks and treats. We are also looking forward to lighting the fire-pit and cooking up a seasonal soup for you to taste along with some campfire bread for the kids to bake.

A Note on Parking & The Weather

It looks like we are in for some more settled weather over the weekend however we all know that the forecast can be unpredictable, regardless we would strongly advise wearing welly boots and clothing that you don’t mind getting a bit muddy!

Parking will also be limited due to the ground conditions and therefore can we please request that if you are able to walk from home or park in Westbourne and walk along the river path next to the Church Hall, please do so.

The WOW Clinic have kindly agreed for us to use their car park so please do use this spot to park. If you need to guarantee a space on the farm due to not being able to walk far, please do email me hello@ourbg.co.uk and we will reserve you a space.

IMPORTANT NOTE

IF YOU ARE PREGNANT

It is wise if you are pregnant to not touch the sheep, in particular where there is raw flesh or fluids exposed during lambing season. Wash your hands with warm water a soap before consuming food & drink in any agricultural setting. You want to avoid the risk of toxoplasmosis which can cause miscarriage. You can read more on this on the NHS website. Toxoplasmosis – NHS (www.nhs.uk)
